I can't get my Magnavox Blu-ray Disc Player Nb530mgx.to recognize surround sound what do i need for this?

It only recognizes the front speakers I have a digital jack in and a red white and yellow wire along with a HDMI cable connected to my tv

No, Andy S has the right idea. You need to go HDMI to receiver. Then another HDMI Cable to the TV/Monitor.

The use of an RCA cord, (Red, Yellow and White) is OK for stereo and occasionally surround, but your next best is optical.

After that and Preferably is HDMI for the best in audio (Sound) and visual (Picture). This is for premium sound and handles the premium picture quality of the higher compressed signals of the Blu-Ray players!

Oh and review your receivers manual to see if you have it set up for optimal settings.

Hope This Helps!
