Help with my lcd tv...Please read!?
Okay, I have a 32 inch LG lcd. When I watch a widescreen movie, or television program, I have problems getting it to fill the whole screen. If I use the 16:9 setting it stretches the picture and doesn't make the bars go away. (I'm well aware that some things are filmed in aspect ratios that are in a wider format, and black bars will still be present no matter what--this is NOT the case.) If I set it to ZOOM, it fills the whole screen, however it cuts off a bit on the top and bottom (this is still the widescreen picture, not a full screen show which would definitely cut the picture). What I want to know is how to get the picture to fill up my screen without cutting it off or stretching it. I can't stand seeing people stretched...I like proportions to be correct. Also, when I zoom, it makes the picture fuzzier than it should be, and that's annoying.
Any help would be wonderful. I'd love to be able to use my tv to the fullest extent.
What is the source for you TV? Are you using a cable or satellite box, or DVD player? The setting for 16:9 should be made in these components, not in the TV. Are you sure you are using HDTV connections (component or HDMI)? Anything else will not be HDTV and not fill the screen.
If it is happening on broadcast HDTV received by the set's internal tuner, something is wrong with the set. However, a non-HD program broadcast in letterbox mode will have bars left and right and top and bottom. You can use zoom on that to fill the screen, but it will look fuzzy.
